I know I said I would post today more pictures from yesterday afternoon, but I'm so tired after the session I had this afternoon in super gusty conditions and well underpowered with 4,7 that I just need to stretch and go to bed early. The wind is supposed to die for two days, so I'll have time to edit the pictures then.
Of course I was not doing a post without pictures, so here's one of the end of the session, the wind dropped and Pablo changed from the small to the medium board (the one in the picture) which seems to work really well in all kind of conditions.
Josep Pons is one of those guys who not only can do all the repertoire, but he can do it just in front of me (the photographer) when I'm shooting from the water, which it may look easy, but it's not, nearly everybody can do backloops and forwards here in Pozo Izquierdo, but just a few can do them at his will, here and now, just in front of the photographer.
For a while now, I realized that every time I was shooting and Josep was there, no matter how the conditions were, I ended up having some good action shots.
By the way, today is his birthday.
Per molts anys Josep!!!

Here you have a small preview from the session we had this evening in Pozo Izquierdo, conditions were nothing special, but when the riders are good and they're having fun, you allways end up with a few nice shots.
I'm posting more pictures after diner, uh, wait, today is the surfing conpetition at Margaret River and the forecast is so good, so I guess I'll be watching online, I'll post the pictures tomorrow.

At first sight this picture may not seem special at all,the frame is not good, the action is nothing special, it's chaos in the composition, but if you take a closer look, who are the guys in the picture? Jason Polakow, Robby Naish and Björn Dunkerbeck, are you kidding me!!! I don't think I will ever see this again in Pozo Izquierdo.

I think that was fall 2001, Björn called me to do some shoots of the new sail for next year; conditions were not great but the light was perfect and we were in a hurry, so we went to Vargas for some uncrowded action.
When you see this picture now it's obvious he is trying a backside 360, but back then I had no clue what he was going for.

Recovering some of my old slides, sorry for the quality but as my film scanner is not working anymore I'm taking digital pictures from the original slides.
