During the last two years, not 100% into proffessional photography and shooting a little bit with kids and girls, rediscovered the FUN, not that mutch the performance-proffessional side of the sport, but the pure joy of windsurfing, the original FUN we losted during the ultra-performance 90's, FUNBOARD is back!!! Today in Pozo, for instance, was the classic light wind/no waves day that usually I wouldn't go in the water, but the guys from Cutre, borrowed me a Simmer XD 5'7 and a Fanatic Free Wave 113 and had a lot of FUN just crussing with some friends, one of those days you just feel happy after sailing.
I already posted this photo long ago in my other blog but now that I'm having a windsurfing blog, this shot had to be here, the light is not that good, but what a jump!!! one of the best back-loops I've ever seen.
I love sprays, but not all of them, not the ones just pushing your back foot at the end of a crappy top turn but the pure carving ones, the ones coming from true rail to rail surfing.
I hve to recognize I'm not a great slalom fan, but I tell you, adrenaline rushes when you are in mark one with a wide angle in your camera during a slalom course with 35 knots!!!
I took this photo during the Grand Salam in Pozo last summer, strong winds and big waves for an amazing expression session, as soon as I saw the helicopter I wanted to take the photo of a big jump with the helicopter in the background, but wasn't easy, the current was so strong and waves were breaking everywhere, and of course, the helicompter was moving all the time. After two hours swiming against the current I saw the chance and shooted, after this jump the helicopter dissapeared, so I was lucky, finaly I had the shoot at the very last chance. :)
the first shot was a session for the cover of the spanish magazine Fuerza 7, the second was for the 2004 Simmer Style brochure, both, Jonas and Victor are amazing windsurfers to shot from the water
This is Nayra at her homespot, Vargas, this is what the judges call "controled radical manouvers in the critical section of the wave", this is one of those photos I don't understand why never did the cut in the mags.
