Flip side

Despite we had such a good autumn for windsurfing, we can't say the same for the winter so far, so I went to my hard disc to give a second chance to the unselected pictures from the fall sessions.

The rock (preview)

Nice session in Pozo Izquierdo just by the rock at the north side of the beach, I have plenty of pictures from the session so I'll post them in the coming days.

Drops everywhere

As I already said at my previous post, this first session at Mosca Point with the fisheye lens was not easy at all, I saw from my house people were windsurfing there and I just went, so I never talked with the guys about the kind of photos we could do with the present conditions and this kind of lens, and despite wind wasn’t strong and waves weren’t big, current was a big issue, it was really hard for me to stay were I wanted to be, so at the end I couldn’t do any of the pictures I wanted, but even though and despite de drops everywhere, I’m happy with this first session and I had a lot of fun watching the action from the best seat in the house.

Of course I got worked on the shorebreak over the reef on my way back to land, but nothing really bad.

Moritz Mauch

I just found these old pictures (2007) from Moritz, I think he was 11 and already windsurfing in Pozo Izquierdo, he was using a kite board his father prepared with a mast box for him.
Under these lines you can see him a few weeks ago.
I’ve been taking pictures in Pozo Izquierdo for 15 years now, so I’m starting to have a small peace of history, I’ll keep posting some old stuff.

I couldn’t expect a better welcome in Pozo Izquierdo, as I am completely out of shape, the light conditions we had this weekend have been perfect for my comeback, I had two windsurfing session with moderate wind and small waves (nearly flat) and later on, the wind picked up, waves got a little bit better and I could take some pictures, here you have just a preview, but now I’m destroyed and I have to wake up early tomorrow, so I’ll post more pictures during the week.

By the way, big changes in town, there’s a new shop in Pozo Izquierdo, Jonas Carlson and Javi Espín just opened POZO WINDS.

Windsurfing

Moritz Mauch windsurfing Pozo Izquierdo
Knee high waves, light and gusty wind and clouded sky; but no matter how bad the conditions are, when you have some of the best windsurfers of the world on the water, they can always do something amazing just in front of the camera, like Moritz in the picture above, doing a goiter while half the beach was not even planing.
I'm having dinner now (and maybe watch a movie), but I'll post more pictures later on.

Moritz at Hookipa

Moritz Mauch
Of course the picture you see it's not Hookipa, this photo is one of the discards from a recent photoshoot I did in Pozo Izquierdo with Moritz and Claus for Club Mistral, but they are now in Maui, and you can see a picture of Moriz riding Hookipa yesterday at the great blog of Giampaolo Cammarota, Maui Surf Report.

the return of FUN

During the last two years, not 100% into proffessional photography and shooting a little bit with kids and girls, rediscovered the FUN, not that mutch the performance-proffessional side of the sport, but the pure joy of windsurfing, the original FUN we losted during the ultra-performance 90's, FUNBOARD is back!!!
Today in Pozo, for instance, was the classic light wind/no waves day that usually I wouldn't go in the water, but the guys from Cutre, borrowed me a Simmer XD 5'7 and a Fanatic Free Wave 113 and had a lot of FUN just crussing with some friends, one of those days you just feel happy after sailing.
