Josep Pons

Josep Pons is one of those guys who not only can do all the repertoire, but he can do it just in front of me (the photographer) when I'm shooting from the water, which it may look easy, but it's not, nearly everybody can do backloops and forwards here in Pozo Izquierdo, but just a few can do them at his will, here and now, just in front of the photographer.

For a while now, I realized that every time I was shooting and Josep was there, no matter how the conditions were, I ended up having some good action shots.

By the way, today is his birthday.

Per molts anys Josep!!!

Overcast

There's not too much you can do when you are shooting in the water with all the settings for a briliant blue sky and suddently a huge colud covers the sky, so I kept shooting for a while knowing that black and white would be the only option for most of the pictures I was taking, but at least we were having a good windsurfing session.

Killerfish & Haring

In this picture Josep Pons is showing us the nice graphics (Keith Haring inspired) of his new Killerfish custom board.
Unfortunately the colors of the photo are not that good, as soon as I started taking pictures it got clouded and ruined the light completely, because when I'm in the water with the housing there's not too much I can do if the light changes.

Arinaga

Windsurfing in Gran Canaria is not all about Pozo Izquierdo, five minutes north from Pozo, we have Arinaga, a flat water spot (with sand in low tide) perfect for learning and slalom, a little bit gusty but absolutely flat (unless there's a south swell).

Nothing but fun

Since I came back to Pozo a couple weeks ago, I had two sessions taking pictures from the water, but standing on the sandbar at low tide. Last Sunday I went for a propper water session, swiming at the peak and I really felt my time away, I was so tired but I managed to stay there for nearly two hours, but the worse was that I had no timing at all, I screwed several framings and I totally lost my fight with the drops, but you know what? we had a lot of fun.

Turning heads

It's not that windsurfing conditions last week were amazing, it's just we are not used to waveriding righthand pointbreaks in light side-offshore wind.

We had a few fun days last week at Pozo Izquierdo and I had a couple of nice sessions taking pictures from the water, this day in particular was a little bit crowded, so I could take a lot of pictures but I also missed some nice shots, I was specially unlucky with Omar Sanchez, who was one of the infrom windsurfers of the session, but beacuse of drops or focus issues, I missed a couple of really good jumps just in front of me.

On the other hand I shooted a really nice sequence from Eleazar Alonso, you can see the sequence here.

And of course, if you want to see more of my windsurfing pictures, you can visit my website: www.danimiquel.com

Backloop by Josep Pons

It's a pity that I missed the take off of this backloop, would have been an amazing sequence if I've had it from the start; somebody did a jump on the wave before and when I turned around Pons was already flying un in the sky.

Fun session

Eleazar Alonso Ele windsurf
Fun windsurfing session this morning in Pozo Izquierdo, with 4,2 and some little waves. After two hours shooting in the water with strong current I was exhausted, so I decided to call the day, but then I had a call from a friend telling me, that the surf was good at the south of the island, so I went surfing for two more hours, now I'm so tired I cant even work on the computer, so I'll post more pictures tomorrow.
By the way, at certain algles, as you can see at Ele's picture, I'm having issues with a reflection or refraction with the sun on the port lens, any ideas so solve it are welcome.
